The financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Council agrees an annual budget by January each year and Councillors decide how much the annual Precept should be set at. The annual accounts are completed in the form of an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) and sent to the external auditor, PKF Littlejohn, if turnover or income is greater than £25,000.

​All the Council’s finances and procedures are fully audited annually by an independent Internal Auditor annually.
